Tips on Teaching Your Dog Doorbell Manners!

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

1. Have them "sit":

Have your dog sit before you answer the door. This way they get in a calmer state before someone enters the home.

2. No Jumping:

Teach your dog to greet guests with all four paws on the floor with the "off" command.

Do not allow your dog to jump up on guests for any reason. This will set a clear boundary for them.

3. Give them a safe space:

Make sure your dog has a place to go that is just for them when guests enter. If they have a place to call their own as company fills the space they are less likely to feel threatened as you allow people into the home.
